Custom Model Building Service

I would like to announce my custom model building services to the general model railroading fraternity. I have been building custom models for some years now largely by word of mouth. I am now advertising the service in O Gauge Railroading for all to see. This blog shows many examples of my work for others and also my own modeling. I build mostly on 1/4" and large scale, 1/24 to 1/20. I specialize in scratch built structures, prototypes and patterns for other companies, bashed and weathered vehicles as well as assembling kits of my own or any other manufacture.

The first few photos are of an old Victorian mansion used in the early 50's as a funeral home. This model was scratch built in 1/4" scale for a client last year. It is an original design and uses special resin castings from my own patterns for most windows, doors, wall trim pieces and corbels. The structure is fabricated from wood and styrene. It has no interior. The hearse is a modified and weathered die cast 1/43 1936 LaSalle. The overall appearance of the model was to show the home in need of much repair and upkeep. There are more modern additions around the old home. A/C was added and the roof has been patched many times with multiple materials. The siding is aged to represent old, warn. peeling paint. The tower was built from scratch also.

The next selection is an MTH Baldwin Diesel that has had the space between the steps and deck filled and completely hand painted to represent a filthy, not very cared for locomotive.

Next I show what can be done with Ameri-Towne structures with the addition of my new lower floor facades. These are easy kits of cast resin. They can also be supplied built-up for easy installation to your existing buildings. Now all of your buildings won't have the same fronts as all others! The hotel sign is available as well as upper floor window plugs for certain structures. There is also a top floor apartment available to add to the top of any Ameri-Towne building. It features a Mansard roof with windows in the front and rear. The brick walls match the originals perfectly too! It is not pictured as yet.

Finally for now, I have a series of factory buildings. They are made from cast resin panels and wood. Just about any configuration can be modeled with these parts. As many floors as one likes too! Building flat or building in the round available. Shown are a few samples.

That completes the introduction to my custom building for right now. I will add more photos in the near future. I can be e-mailed at tomyorke@bellsouth.net or I would be happy to speak on the phone during normal business hours for Georgia (8 to 6 week days). 770-645-2597. Let me know what you would like built. I would be more than happy to give you a quote and put you on the schedule.

New Post to Follow Shortly

I am about ready to advertise in O Gauge Railroading and will update this blog very shortly. A bunch of new photos of upcoming projects as well as a few older ones. I will also do some painting and finishing tutorials with many photos to help those people wanting to finish and weather as I do. You will see that it isn't that difficult to do. It does take some time though. In the mean time, here are two shots of a new kit being developed. It is virtually all cast resin and the building is sided with depression brick. The roof shingles are also cast resin. I will return shortly...
